But when you listen to too much outside interference, and lose the connection to the YOU in your business, you end up working way too hard and not getting the results you want.

 Here are 5 signs that may be the case for you:

 1. You become scattered, trying lots of different strategies, programs, social media tools., etc. hoping one of them will catch fire to bring you clients and money.

 2. You feel uninspired and flat when you think about what to do next to amp up the energy in your business

In the course of our call it became clear that her current business–which is a very healthy income stream–is not nearly automated enough to leave her free to go on to develop anything else. Once we discussed the preliminary steps to take to put the systems in place to run the primary business, she realized that there’s no way she could have kept working on the new one. It really was putting the cart before the horse. And her Inner Guidance was what kept her from spinning her wheels ‘working on’ the new project.

She realized that she had now shifted into much greater alignment with the place her soul had been calling her to.

She’s got homework: the concrete, action steps to take that make sense now in terms of where it all is and what it all needs. Nothing random, all organically inspired and quite systematic.

From time to time we all experience in our spiritual businesses what I call ‘the trough’. It’s that period of time when the energy has slowed down to a trickle–remember, while it may FEEL like it has ground to a halt, energy never really stops moving, that’s basic physics. And the clients and money have slowed down to a trickle. It feels like a slump, like nothing’s happening. And this may be despite your best efforts….or at least what you hope are your best efforts.

If you’re a heart-centered business person this is when you might start meditating and visualizing and affirming…now don’t get me wrong, I do all of these regularly, but right now–don’t. Why? Well because much of the time these practices will be very powerful, but then there are those times that this can turn into some seriously passive navel-gazing, which is not helpful.

I’m a spiritual teacher so I’m not telling you to not be aware, or to numb out or conversely, turn into a white tornado, but I am saying that what you need to do is take grounded, informed action. Of course it has to be the right action or again, it will be more distraction than anything else, so here are those….

3 Simple Things To Do When Your Spiritual Business Is In A Slump:

1. Look at your ‘WHAT TO DO NEXT’ List. What’s that? You don’t have a ‘WHAT TO DO NEXT List? Well, you better make one, because when things are bogged down is a tough time to come up with a good ‘what to do next’ item, if you get my drift. We can definitely talk about what to put on that list–things like creating a survey to ask your people what they want and would buy from you and how they’d like it delivered, or writing an article about a powerful coaching session, or finding ways to Be the Source for others of the very thing you want for yourself, etc. Go see what item on your list is energetically appealing and act on it. It’s will get energy moving, which is the point.

2. This may seem contradictory, but take a breath and give it a minute. Spirit knows what you want. You’re being coached–you ARE being coached, right? And the Universe is holding all kinds of things in escrow for you. You’re clear about your niche. You stay in touch with your list, etc. so you are doing the ‘right’ things. And sometimes you just have to give the seeds you’ve planted a minute to germinate and pop above ground. This is where the big “T’ = TRUST comes in. So whether it’s counter-intuitive or not, R-E-L-A-X, go have some fun. Stress and compulsive activity never improved anything. One of our Soul to Soul Marketing mottos is “Relax to succeed” and this is partly what it’s about.

3. Dig deep into what’s going on in the rest of your life because you know, right, that wherever else you’re blocked, energetically it’s going to show up in your business….that’s how our holistic businesses keep us learning our spiritual lessons. At times this can be really annoying but it IS what you signed up for, your work being your path and all that jazz. So get honest about what you’re experiencing or struggling with in other parts of your life, and express, clear, do what will evolve you the most powerfully and watch the energy in your business reflect that! There are times when what I call “koffing up a hairball” is the best thing you can do to move out of the doldrums. This can be a very eye-opening, exciting process that leads to breakthroughs. I help clients with this all the time.

There’s lots more to discuss regarding dealing with a slump but having some markers, some suggestions you can keep handy in your back pocket to pull out when it’s hard to think, can be really comforting and helpful.

Don’t give up. Not that you would, spiritual-preneurs being among the most persistent, committed, ‘hang in there’ people I’ve ever met! But hang in there with Joy, with the knowing that the HOW of carrying out your mission IS being revealed to you….in Spirit’s time, and healing is happening in your business and in yourself.

I coached a client today who is an author/publisher and she talked about that regarding the first book she ever wrote many years ago, and she’s written a few since then. She said that when it gets published and put out into the world will be in Spirit’s time, not hers. She’s had those moments when she really, really wanted that to happen NOW, but she always surrendered, and these days it actually looks like this might be that time. I’m thinking that patience and surrender are two of the high spiritual lessons for the heart-centered entrepreneur.

 He was so gracious and encouraging and warm to the young people meeting him and receiving his support and advice about how to improve their performances for the show. The main piece of wisdom he repeated over and over to almost every one of those American Idol singers was to find a way to make their performance personal.

 He told one young man to ’sing to this woman’ as he outlined the shape of a woman in the air with his hands. He told another young woman to use her story that gets triggered by the song she chose, as she talked with him through her tears after singing her chosen song for him. One after another got the same advice in different words: come from your heart, use your story, make it personal, connect with one person and you’ll connect with them all.

 What I loved about this is that this is the very same advice I give to the heart-centered business owners I work with in the Soul to Soul Marketing program. What I know is what Usher knows: if you make your message too generic in trying to reach everyone, you’ll connect with no one. You must come from your truth to their truth. No matter how much talent or how many gifts you have to offer, they’ll fall on deaf ears if you don’t make it personal.

Come from your pain to the pain of just one person you know, or can imagine, and the truth in your message will be felt. You’ve got to keep it real if you want to connect in a personal way to the ones who need your help.

 There’s not much more to say about this than that. Usher is right, use those tears, let that pain carry your words, allow your heart to be revealed and vulnerable, and you’ll get your message across. That’s what Soul to Soul Marketing is all about.

Every possible version of you, living every possible version of your life exists in potential in the quantum field of infinite possiblities. Sound woo-woo? Well, major scientific research and theory from quantum physicists, you know the brainiacs of the world, tell us this is so.

So think about what you want. Then think about the fact that there is a part of you who is living whatever that is. And think about  how you can connect with and dialogue with him/her.

It’s as simple as doing some breathing, or a light meditation to put yourself into a light alpha state and then allowing yourself to invite, see, connect with. speak with and learn from that part of yourself.

Let’s say that what you want is more success in your spiritual business. There is a quantum YOU that already enjoys that success. And you get to ask her how she created that success, how she keeps it going, and what you need to do and change in your life and business to achieve that.

This is one of the most powerful ways to take advantage of what those scientists (and spiritual sages) are telling us: Everything exists in the NOW. And you get to tap in, tune in, turn on to your chosen reality and actually learn from it.

And speaking of tapping, a way to potentiate this process and make it much more powerful is to do meridian tapping, like EFT while you are in the process of connecting with your Quantum Self.

One of my homework assignments for my spiritual marketing class was to make a vision board. I had heard of them but never had made one. I wasn’t even sure of the principles behind it. I asked Candy if she had ever made one. She said actually quite a few. Why am I not surprised.

So Jan told me that this vision board was very powerful. She said it would come to particles. Particles? Wow. Definitely the left side of my brain liked this. I was really excited and didn’t really know even how to start. But I looked in my office and all around me…things that gave me joy and things pertaining to Reiki Fur Babies. I found pictures, even titles of books, lots of animals, cards of angels that I never even knew I had…I also put people that were important to me as well as perhaps future people that I might meet one day. Whether it be signifcant or not. I put things like the O Magazine on there because I love Oprah’s magazine. Layer upon layer…I wasn’t even sure how to put them together but it all came together like a puzzle where I didn’t know how the pieces fit but intuitively they all came together. I put some of my favorite sayings on there as well. My favorite numbers. When it was done I would look at it and just grin. I had no idea though how it would work.

Every day I would take a look at a part of it…it’s incredible. It has aligned itself with all of my dreams and visions that have been taking place since the end of January. I had a very powerful dream and wrote about it – Tapestry and the peacock. I had no idea, there were TWO peacocks on my vision board. You say, didn’t you know what you were putting on the board? Well, yes and no. I took things that were around me…I had a picture of a peacock. Get this, I even had brown bears on there. What have I been seeing during our Reiki sessions? Bears. Black ones, brown ones. That same week I was experiencing my vision with the Shaman was the same week I realized there was a unicorn on my vision board. These two animals have HUGE significance to me. I find it actually comical. SO after that I started to look even more closely as what there is on my vision board. It is as if it was me that created yet but not. If that makes any sense at all!

I’m realizing that this vision board is just another extension of myself. And it is coming to particle. The colors, the shapes, the actual pictures are all of significance. My brother told me just making it was also a big part of it. I have had very strong visions since creating this board.

My latest vision was the most powerful ever. I realized she was on my vision board as well. “She” who visited me named Shanti is also an extension. She has a lot of gold around her and on her. I looked on my vision board yesterday and noticed the color gold gleaming from the entire board itself as well as a woman on the board.

All I can say is if you have never made a vision board I would encourage you to try. I would love to hear your experience. Have you ever made a vision board?

 As the title of this post says, this was NOT your average marketing class. Nope. Not even close. But then, I’m not your average marketing coach either. J

 Well, of course we did discuss the normal things like web site copy, domain names, using video, doing market research, and that kind of stuff. You know, the marketing part of the class.

 But the real fun and the real substance of the class happens when these women are willing to ‘let their panties show’, be vulnerable, and talk about the stuff that keeps them stuck. You see, you can collect all of the marketing knowledge and information in the Universe, but if you stay stuck in your “ooey gooey” as one of them calls it, you’ll never fulfill your purpose, passion, destiny, call it whatever you want. You KNOW what I’m talking about.

 So, behind Door #1 is the Belgian woman who calls herself the Venus Coach and does absolutely brilliant work helping women to love themselves and their bodies. And she’s stuck in the morass of an old relationship that was personal and professional and now is just professional. Got it? In other words, she still works in a business with her old lover. She’s grown so much with our work together and she needs to communicate to him that she can’t be that co-dependent helpmate she’s been to him any longer because it compromises her relationship with herself and her work.  Together with the other women, I help her to see that she’s already shifted into a new place with herself and is committed to being all that she can be. She simply needs to let him know that a new agreement is needed between them. And they both need to adjust to the new reality. By the time we decide that she could use one of her private sessions with me (they get three of those with the program) her energy has already shifted palpably and she’s just got to get the specifics down. Nice!!

 Behind Door #2 is another gifted woman, a health and wellness practitioner who also trains other healing practitioners. She’s excited and on fire with the process of taking her successful business onto the Internet and she’s taken great steps to do so—programs, products, etc. She wants to use video, which as we all know, is KING this year, but she discovered at a recent workshop that she freezes in front of the camera. She says when she was in high school she was a very natural, talented actress, and then she developed a crush on this boy and became very self-conscious and shut that down ….now she freezes. She’s ready to change this story and use video in marketing her work and so we’ll do some Matrix Re-imprinting to collapse the emotion around that old memory and get her game on again. She’s so happy that we can do this so she can move on down the road and not stay stuck!

 One more—Door #3, this woman has over two decades of experience as a powerful healer, has overcome her own deeply wounded past to work with others who need transformation and healing. She says she gets going on a project for her new business and then hits the wall….stops dead. She sees how she distracts and derails herself with old stories. What she didn’t see was how out of balance she is with regard to the self-nurturing / enabling polarity. And how she fools herself into avoiding what needs doing in an unconscious attempt to protect a younger, seemingly fragile part of herself. She was thrilled with the new insight that this younger self is not so fragile and can be brought forward as a potent and helpful part of herself. Bingo! She feels she can now bring loving kindness to herself and know that she can and will and does shift her energy and old patterns into more functional ones that allow her to fully step into her role as a teacher of healers. She was excited. Wow.

 Woven into all of this, like I said, is talk of web sites, domain names, shopping carts, software, hardware, tribes, newsletters, programs, project timelines, etc. And that is extremely valuable information that I share with them, but unless the deeper transformational work happens and creates true and lasting change, none of that other stuff will amount to a hill of beans. Know what I mean? Because stuck is stuck no matter how you slice it.

 So, I wanted you to get the flavor of ‘not your average marketing class’. Hope you’re turned on by the possibilities for yourself and your business. I know I am! How I do love my work!!

 I wonder if you’re doing that with yourself. You know, letting go of the old residue around an uncomfortable issue and inviting in something fresh, clean and new.

 Change is always happening and we can get numb to it if we’re not aware, resulting in not keeping up with that change. That’s what happens when you wake up one day and realize how dingy the paint on your walls has become. And you don’t even get HOW dingy until you start applying the new paint! Then it’s so obvious that freshening up is overdue.

 So I’m inviting you to ask where in your life freshness is being called for. In what area, around what issue would a fresh perspective help you to realize how ‘over it’ you are with the old way of viewing and trying to deal with the issue.

 Along with the painting, I’m doing “fresh” around food. I’m letting go of diet, calories, macro and micro nutrients, food combining, raw vs cooked, etc….all of those things I’ve been learning and playing with along the way…and going for JOY. Yep. When I think I want to eat something, I ask myself what would be the MOST enjoyable thing I could eat right then. What would align me the best with JOY. And my body always answers the question.

 The other night I realized that the small lettuce, celery, carrot salad I had made was THE most delicious thing I’d eaten all day. It was what I enjoyed the most. And that surprised me and got me to think about the need for this shift in my approach to food. It helped me to see that my old way was, in fact, dingy, old and in need of change.

 I recently made the same kind of shift in my business and the energy is flowing strong there now!! My husband and I were talking about how far afield from joy we can get when we decide that ‘hard work’ and “pushing though” is the way to reach a goal, when really, aligning with JOY puts us on the path of ease and then it all unfolds beautifully.
